Marshfield Players (formerly The Pantomime Players) was re-started in 1977 and since then has staged countless productions. We are a friendly group of people who enjoy theatre and aim  put on 2 productions a year at the Community Centre. We have also arranged playreadings, Punch and Judy performances, social evenings and Theatre trips.

We are run by volunteers with a small committee taking on the  variety of roles   needed to create a successful community group. One of the strengths of the Players has been including young people in our productions alongside adult performers in Pantomimes , Musicals and in our diverse plays. If you are interested in joining the Players then please get in touch. There is lots to do on and off stage in productions and in running the group.

Our 2016  production is The Arsonists by Max Frisch directed by Geoff Greenwood who brought us Our Town 2 years ago , and who has been interested in the play since seeing it at The Bristol Old Vic in 1962

The play has been described  as a parable about accommodating the very thing that will destroy you. A Greek chorus of firemen introduces us to a country that is terrorised by arsonists but, as the fire-fighters assert, protected by their diligence. But Biedermann has it all under control.  A respected member of the community with a loving wife and a flourishing business, surely nothing can get to him.A great philanthrope, he is happy to meet his civic duty and give shelter to two new houseguests, and when they start filling the attic with petrol drums, he’ll help them wire the fuse.

We hope this sounds intriguing and you will come along to see Marshfield Players interpretation of a classic but perhaps not so well known play. Performances will be at The Community Centre 10th-12th November. Tickets on sale at Central Stores soon.
